Bert T. Martin, III

Bert Martin founded Martin Capital Management, LLC in 2021 and the firm began offering advisory services in 2022. Bert gained experience at several different companies before starting his own firm. Previously Bert has held positions with Sanibel Captiva Trust Company and Suncoast Equity Management. At the Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, Bert was a member of the asset management committee and helped expand their footprint in the Tampa Bay Market. At Suncoast Equity Management, Bert offered an actively managed GIPS compliant Growth Equity strategy as an allocation of his client’s portfolio. Prior to that, Bert was an early partner at West Palm Beach, FL based Caerus Ventures, providing financing to consumer products and technology payment processing businesses.

Bert began his finance career in the credit department at Colonial Bank in Tampa, FL. He received an undergraduate degree from Rollins College majoring in Economics. At Rollins he played on the Men’s Varsity tennis team all 4 years, including the 2001 Division II National Championship team. Bert was first introduced to financial planning as an intern at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company during the summer between his Junior and Senior year.

Bert is active in his community and has served as Chairman of the Board of the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation. He has also served as a board member for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. He is currently a member of their finance committee and is a trustee for the Sister Margaret Freeman Foundation/St. Petersburg Free Clinic Investment Committee.  Bert still enjoys tennis as well as hiking and traveling with his wife Mallory and their dog Biscuit.
